THE LAVENDER EFFECT® and SOCAL FLAGGERS presented “I Love Flagging” featuring  DJ Daniel Van Olst on February 14, 2026. Located in West Hollywood Park, this free Valentine’s Day community event was made possible and co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood (weho.org). Flags and expert coaching was offered to diverse participants. The tradition of Queer Flagging started in gay clubs in the late 70s & early 80s. Southern California discos like Studio One and Circus encouraged “flaggers” to warm up and/or maintain the energy on the dance floor.
