THE LAVENDER EFFECT’S MISSION IS TO ADVANCE THE FUTURE OF LGBTQ HERITAGE & CULTURE. This vision encompasses the following goals:

I. Advance society’s understanding and appreciation of LGBTQ+ people.

Educate the public and LGBTQ+ community about the important historical contributions of LGBTQ+ people to world civilization, as well as to California’s specific economic, political, and social development (A.K.A. California’s FAIR Education Act).

II.  Promote Los Angeles as a world center for LGBTQ+ equality and culture.

Trumpet Southern California’s LGBTQ+ impact on the world, from the influence of Hollywood to our grassroots pioneers. Give Southern California a well-deserved seat at the cultural table (beyond Harvey Milk and Stonewall).

III.  Advance the global campaign for full LGBTQ+ equality.

Showcase organizations and institutions that had and continue to have a positive impact on LGBTQ+ individuals and culture.

IV.  Demystify human sexuality and sexual identity.

Showcase the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ diversity, human sexuality and identification through video testimonies, immersive exhibits, cultural programs, interactive media, and scholarly research opportunities.

V.  Strengthen unity among all diverse people.

Provide resources and forums to help identify 21st Century LGBTQ+ culture. Explore our cumulative wisdom, common ground, and frame the dialogue for continuing progress.

VI.  Educate and inspire future generations.

Engage with pioneers and their authentic stories to provide positive role models for LGBTQ+ Youth.
