THE LAVENDER EFFECT® hosted a Flagging in WeHo on Sunday, June 30^th, 2024! This joyful musical and visual event was a WeHo Pride Community Event that featured DJ Casey Alva. Flags and flagging lessons were offered by community partners the Desert Flaggers and all ages, identities, and abilities participated. The tradition of Queer Flagging started in gay clubs in the late 70s & early 80s. Discos like Studio One encouraged “flaggers” to warm up and/or maintain the energy on the dance floor. This event was made possible by a WeHo PRIDE Community Event Grant.
