As promised, this evening Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed the marriage equality in Illinois into law using the same desk that President Abraham Lincoln used to write his first inaugural address in 1861.  Illinois’ law will take effect June 1, 2014, though lawmakers could vote when they reconvene to move the date sooner.
