Pioneers of Pride OHP
The Lavender Effect’s Oral History Project (OHP) captures video testimonies from members of the LGBTQ community and supportive allies who were integral participants or witnesses to a historic event or movement. These recordings are produced at the highest standards available and utilize Shoah Foundation‘s guidelines.
The California Fair Education Act that took effect in 2015 requires public schools to implement curricula that teaches the contributions of LGBTQ+ people to society. The OHP content addresses this need by documenting living testimonies and making them available to the public. Teaching LGBTQ+ history through diverse stories helps empower LGBTQ+ youth, as well as reduce bullying, depression, and suicides. Full interviews can be rented and streamed at http://vimeo.com/thelavendereffect/vod_pages.

The OHP is being researched and produced by an experienced and professional team. Andy Sacher, Founding Executive and Creative Director, has worked for entertainment industry leaders including Disney, Steven Spielberg, and Jerry Bruckheimer. Andy partnered with Evolution Media, academic advisors, and community activists to select and interview the pioneers of the LGBTQ+ and allied Community. Digital testimonies are utilized for educational instruction, interactive exhibits, documentaries, and more. It is Team Lavender’s goal to reach, educate, and inspire the broadest audience possible.
