FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much walking is involved and what is the pace?
Each of our interactive tours cover a few miles within a 2.5-hour period. We will walk mostly on flat and level sidewalks, with slight hills and a few stairs. We move at a leisurely pace and stop frequently to discuss historic locations along the way. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
What about inclement weather?
Tours will run rain or shine. Remember to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately for the day’s weather.
Do we go inside any buildings?
Yes, we do visit the interiors of certain locations we see on the tour. You can always return to explore what catches your attention after the tour.
Are there bathrooms along the way?
Restrooms are available at the meeting location. There are also several restroom stops along the way if necessary, but we highly recommend using the restroom before the tour(s) begin.
Will food and beverages be served?
Light snacks and water are included in the tour. However, you should eat something before the start of the tour. Tours can be set up to include a delicious lunch stop or lunch to go.
Is the tour suitable for all students?
Your professional guide will edited out any inappropriate material to cater to middle school ages and up. We share the histories, biographies, and stories of some incredible, and often unknown, LGBTQ+ Pioneers to allow students to see into the dynamic and diverse past of our community. Our tours are an interactive and entertaining version of what one may find in an LGBTQ+ Studies seminar.
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Yes, cameras are permitted and if there are photo restrictions in any of the places we visit, we’ll let you know. We just ask that you get advanced permission to photo other members of your group.
Can we shop during the tour?
There is not enough time during the tour to stop and shop, but you’re welcome to do so after the tour.
Are the tours conducted in English only?
At this time we can only offer tours in English, but you are welcome to arrange for an interpreter.
